Lesson Policies
Lesson Policies
Students will receive individualized instruction, once a week for 30-minutes (or 45-minutes) at the Waconia Music Studios. You can start lessons anytime (based on teacher availability), and you must commit to the end of that session and any future sessions agreed upon. If you start a session after the start date, your tuition will be pro-rated.
Lesson Calendar
-Spring/Winter Session = January 22 – May 24
-Summer Session = June 3 – August 16
-Fall/Winter Session = August 26 – January 10
Missed Lesson Policies
It is expected that you will make music lessons a priority and schedule other activities around your lesson time. No refunds or credits are given for unexcused missed lessons. We do offer make-up lessons for excused absences (illness or family emergency). Make-up lessons will be scheduled with your teacher at a mutually agreed upon time. Other than an illness, you must provide at least a 24-hour notice for the upcoming lesson to be eligible for a make-up lesson.
We allow three make-up lessons per session.
If you are not present within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time, you forfeit that lesson and will not be offered a make-up lesson.
If an instructor needs to cancel a lesson, the lesson will be made-up during that session. Waconia Music Studios reserves the right to find a substitute instructor if necessary.
Payment Information
Lessons are paid for in advance. Payments can be made in full at the start of each session, or they can be made monthly throughout the session. Payments are due by the 1st of every month. Tuition does not include the cost of lesson books or other music materials.
A late fee of $15.00 will be charged for tuition not received by the 5th of the month, and lessons could be suspended due to frequent late payments. For any returned checks, there is a $25.00 fee.
I also understand that once the student(s) has registered, he/she is committed through the current session.
Adverse Weather Policy
In case of inclement weather, lessons will be rescheduled.
We will post a message on our Facebook page, send you an email, and update
our ‘schedule’ located on our website.
Discontinuing Calendar
Initiated by the student and/or parent:
If at any point you are unhappy with your lessons, please first discuss the problem with your instructor. Oftentimes, a simple conversation can identify and solve the problem.
Sometimes it is discovered that the student-teacher relationship is just not the right fit. In this case, please consider continuing your lessons with another teacher at the studio. If you are interested in this option, speak directly to your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so, or if you prefer, contact either Scott Brose or Jay Downie (studio co-owners) to discuss your concerns and situation.
Regardless of the reason, as a courtesy to your instructor, please provide as much notice as possible if you plan to discontinue lessons.
Initiated by the instructor:
A student may be removed from a teacher’s schedule if the student has significant behavioral problems, refuses to cooperate, is verbally abusive, is disrespectful or consistently shows little or no progress.
Students may also need to be suspended if they miss many lessons or are behind in their financial commitments.
Release of Liability
As the legal parent or guardian, I release and hold harmless Waconia Music Studios, its owners and operators from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, that may be sustained by the participant and/or the undersigned, while in or upon the premises or any premises under the control and supervision of Waconia Music Studios, its owners and operators or in route to or from any of said premises.
Photography Release
I give permission for Waconia Music Studios to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, website, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials that we create. Photos of students and video/audio recordings of student performances may also be posted online for educational and promotional purposes. Identifying information will be excluded or limited to first names only. Parents wishing to exempt their student(s) from any published media may do so by providing a written exclusion request.
